  • EXPERIENCE:
    Mark possesses over sixteen years of experience in consulting engineering. Prior to beginning what is now Mechanical Engineering Solutions, Mark Awmiller worked for a large, multidiscipline engineering-construction firm in Florida. During his tenure with this firm, Mark developed expertise in facility master planning, fire protection design, controls system design, healthcare design, educational institution design, energy efficient design of mechanical systems, energy analysis, indoor air quality remediation, governmental facility design, chilled water plant analysis and design, construction management, construction cost estimating, bid negotiation, plumbing design, project financing and value engineering.

    As a principal of MES, Mark supervises design and production for all projects in which he is the engineer-of-record. In addition, Mark provides quality control oversight for all other projects that leave the office. Mark also trains and mentors new employees and junior associates in the firm.

  • NOTABLE PROJECTS:

  • Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, FL - Multiple ongoing projects including a high-pressure steam boiler installation, chiller and cooling tower replacements, emergency O2 system installation, new generator fuel tank farm, HVAC renovation of a 7-story medical office building, renovation of catheterization labs, etc.. Prior projects included a new chilled water plant, renovation of Neonatal ICU, Pain Management renovation, and numerous others.

  • St. Leo’s University Business School Building, St. Leo, FL – An approximately 4-story new construction business school with classrooms, offices, data center spaces. Work shall include reviewing the existing CHW and Generator plant systems. Work included all HVAC, Data, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection.

  • Pinellas County Safety Complex, Clearwater, FL - Project and Mechanical Engineer for a new Pinellas County complex with Emergency Operations, 911 Dispatch, Sheriffs Operation, Data Center, Vehicle Maintenance and many other services for the County. Potential campus size is 500,000 SF and potential budget at $85M.

  • Westminster Northshore Building, St. Petersburg, FL – Renovation of an existing 15 story building. Existing units will be modified to create 132 units, along with common and ancillary spaces. Work included renovations of Units including dropped soffits as required for new HVAC Controls. Install new chiller and ancillary equipment, provide new electrical service for additional loads from HVAC system and new range and washer/dryer. Upgrade existing system as required. Replace existing system consisting of 2 floors of chiller water AHUs and 12 floors of PTAC units with new 160 ton air cooled chilled water system with electrical heat throughout. Provide required ventilation supply and exhaust. Verify capacity and operation of existing instant hot water system.

  • US Botanic Garden Administration Building, Washington, D.C.: Complete Mechanical, Plumbing & Fire Protection Design for a complex renovation of a historic building on Capitol Hill meeting all the design requirements of The Architect of The Capitol (AOC).

  • Polk County Government, Bartow, FL - Energy analysis of over 1,000,000 square feet of all county facilities. Included some design of energy conservation projects implemented. Over $7,000,000 worth of capital improvements.

  • Orlando International Airport, Orlando, FL - Central CHW plant expansion for future airside additions, including a remote generator radiator pumping system and generator intake air ducting.
